Melinda and Melinda (2004)

While dining out with friends, Sy suggests the difficulty of separating comedy from tragedy. To illustrate his point, he tells his guests two parallel stories about Melinda ; both versions have the same basic elements, but one take on her state of affairs leans toward levity, while the other is full of anguish. Each story involves Melinda coping with a recent divorce through substance abuse while beginning a romantic relationship with a close friend's husband.

Love woody allen films. This was quite interesting.

I enjoyed this movie. It has the typical Woody Allen elements with lots of neurotic conversing and double entendres. It is also a good story and has nice pacing. However in some of the scenes the acting seem a little stiff, and I was trying to decide whether it was bad directing or screenwriting. I went with screenwriting in the end, because the characters talk a bit to "academic" and what they say seem a little too wise for their role. Even in their most frantic moments were they able to put their lives in good perspective without a moments pause to reflect before. However, even with that, it was entertaining to watch.

It has great performances, snappy one-liners and a likeably tricksy structure, all wrapped up in an affirmative antidote to life’s daunting complexities. Welcome back, Woody.

Esta pelicula es bien curiosa. La misma historia con version tragica o de comedia. Pero es bien curioso como podemos encontrar comedia en historia tragica y viceversa...Todo depende del color con que se mire!!!

Woody gets a lot of crap, but I really liked this movie. Don't expect a lot of ups and downs, just straight ahead ACTING!
