McBain (1991)

Santos attempts to lead a people's revolt in Colombia to overthrow the Presidente. When his revolt fails and he is killed, his sister Christina goes to New York to find McBain, a lieutenant Santos rescued during the Vietnam War. McBain agrees to help, recruits his old war buddies, raises some cash by killing a few drug dealers, then leads an attack to topple the Colombian government.

Boy I'm torn about this one. On one hand it's a terrible Vietnam tale, but on the other hand it's a hilarious comedy with Chris Walken overthrowing Colombia with the help of his ragtag Army pals. McBain is a thing of beauty, different for everyone.

BUT so bad it's good. I love the sequence where the girl wakes up quietly and smiles after her lungs have been reinflated with an emptied ball point pen tube inserted into an incision made without any anesthetia or means of keeping it from getting infected.

I was amazed at the part where mcbain shoots the piolet of the adjacent fighter plane directly in the head whilst in flight and with no shattered windows in either plane. Walken must have been amazed when he read the script for that part. I also love his reaction when he see's his old friend get shot in the head on tv in the news. Pure gold.
