Purposely cheesy and a satire on the character Captain America, this was mildly amusing. With the exception of about 3 minutes of footage, this really was a made for kids type movie and I don't think I heard the F word in it once. I have no idea why it was rated R.

there are so many lame one-liners in this film that i couldn't help but enjoy it. it's cheesy goodness....it's kinda like a pizza combo, actually. you've got the pretzel outside of cool-lookin' monsters and somewhat neat (yet still lame) story...and the cheesy filling of everything else in the movie being...well, cheesy. i like pizza combos. they're grand. this movie is grand. watch it.

Harmless, good-natured cheezer about a WWII Captain America-like super soldier tasked with battling monsters created by an arch-villain. He returns to NYC after 55 years in suspended animation just in time to find the monsters on the verge of taking over the city... by becoming Republicans and getting their candidate elected mayor! The lead role was clearly written with Bruce Campbell in mind. The whole thing is as silly as it is violent, and it's all couched in a comic book context. Entertaining fluff with a decent sense of humor. If you liked the "Evil Dead" series, particularly "Army of Darkness," you might like this low budget comedy/monster action flick, too.
