Early "Almodovar"@ seem s like a cult...genuinely innovative..liked it...different in taste.

Pedro Almodovar's first masterpiece about a man and a woman that fall in love. They also get off on murdering their lovers during climax. A great adult thriller that showcases Almodovar's ability to balance perverse subject matter with compassion, honesty and a wicked sense of humor.

Looking past all the absurdities the film has to offer, Matador is essentially a dark romantic comedy at its core. With passion and obsession meeting fueling the characters' actions, Almodvar steps up and shows audiences he isn't afraid to tell original stories.

Really sick, and also really good. Antonio Banderas turning himself in for rape is one of the best scenes I've seen in awhile in terms of pure funniness - and that seems odd given the rape aspect.
