Mass Effect: Paragon Lost (2012)

An untold chapter in the Mass Effect saga, following the early career of Alliance Marine, James Vega, as he leads a squad of elite special forces into battle against a mysterious alien threat known as The Collectors. Stationed at a colony in a remote star system, Vega and his troops must protect the inhabitants from an invasion of the deadly insectoid warriors determined to collect the population for unknown purposes. Soon after the attack, Vega's commanding officer falls in battle, forcing the young officer to embrace the responsibility of leadership for the colony's survival. Having idolized Earth's greatest hero and warrior, Commander Shepard (the central character in the Mass Effect video games), the young and idealistic Vega must now make life and the death decisions that will effect not only the lives of his squad, but the lives of every person in the colony - all of whom he has sworn to protect...

Not a bad edition to the franchise but this could have been so much better. Overall it's average and a bit disappointing

Everyone who watches any film will get out of it, which they want for themselves. For me, this was an great anime, not only about the life and times of James Vega, but about leadership and the consequences that our decisions can have. Overall, Paragon Lost is a fitting addition to the storyline created to Mass Effect universe. Not a perfect film, but definitely enjoyable if you are truly a fan of the gaming series.

Great! = 4/5 Adds some great backstory to the Mass Effect universe from one of their most underrated characters, James Vega. As enjoyable to watch as it is well written - Paragon Lost makes me hopeful (and excited) that we'll hopefully soon see another Mass Effect story in the anime like style.

Adds new content about what happened during the period of shepard's reconstruction. Also helps one to appreciate James Vega much more as a character.
