An amazing & fascinating story that asks as many questions as it answers. About art, survival, masculinity, as well as, our crappy health insurance for the poor. This is not a weird film. It's about a man struggling to cope under extraordinary circumstances and doing so in a fantastically creative way.

There are some things you don't get over, but it's amazing how we can make something so terrible into something so magically artistic. This is an amazingly strange documentary that gives new meaning to what people call "meta."

An amazing story of how a man, beaten so severely, he lost all memory of the first 38 years of his life, and cut off from needed mental and physical therapy, provided it to himself through a fantasy world he created that is also truly art. The filmmaker strikes just the right tone and lets you appreciate Mark Hogancamp's struggles, his talent and his fears and concerns as his work gets discovered.
