Mad Hot Ballroom (2005)

Eleven-year-old New York City public school kids journey into the world of ballroom dancing and reveal pieces of themselves and their world along the way. Told from their candid, sometimes humorous perspectives, these kids are transformed, from reluctant participants to determined competitors, from typical urban kids to "ladies and gentlemen," on their way to try to compete in the final citywide competition.

I went to see it on a hot July afternoon just before leaving for Cyprus and I'm so glad I did!!! It was so interesting and by the end, the entire theater was cheering for their favorite team. Amazing.

Mad Hot Ballroom YEAR: 2005 What's it worth? $10.00 I've been waiting FOREVER to see this. Mad Hot Ballroom is the sweetest thing. It's the most enjoyable documentary I've ever seen. Everything about it sent your skin crawling. I clapped somuch during this. And at the end I stood up and cheered. Rarely does a documentary achieve that connectivity with the viewer. Docs seem to fell very disconnected and at times, dull. This had me intrigued, amazed and dazzled at every tango, merenge and swing dancing step! AMAZING! What's it worth? $10.00 Was it disappointing? Heck no Would you watch it again? YES. In. a. heartbeat. NEXT REVIEW: Dead Poets Society and Children of Heaven Chariots of Fire HP was NOT at the library today. Thank you very much. Super cute movie. Thanks to my friend Sharla for recommending it. And thanks to Netflix for being in existence.
