Lucía, Lucía (2003)

Lucia, an children's book author, tells the story of her husband's disappearance. One day on their way to Brazil he just disappears. She goes to the police, gets a ransom note, and makes friends with the old dude downstairs and the young dude upstairs as she tries to find him. Things take a bit of a twist as she realized the kidnapping may not be as simple as it seems on the surface.

Adapted from the novel by Rosa Montero, co-written and directed by Antonio Serrano involving a middle age wife Lucia (Cecilia Roth) who has learned that her husband has been kidnapped with a huge demand she unknowingly knew nothing about. And as the movie progresses the husband's kidnapping unfolds as Lucia welcomes 2 tenants into the mystery as well as the money.

It's ok, but a little disappointing. It's director is the creator of Sex, Shame and Tears, and this film is far from have the same "heart", it is also far from being as good as the book is based in. It's entertaining anyway and it's a journey through self-knowledge that can be useful for some people in some specific time in their lifes. Es una película X. Me gustó por la frescura y la calidad en cuanto a producción que tiene sobre todo como cinta hecha en México. Dicen que Rosa Monero, autora del libro en el que se basa, quedó satisfecha; no sé de qué, si le quitaron lo mejor: la narrativa.
