Lost Things (2004)

Four teenagers; Gary (Leon Ford), Brad (Chalie Garber), Emily (Lenka Kripac) and Tracey (Alex Vaughan) travel to a desert paradisiacal beach and spend the weekend together. When they arrive, they meet the older Zippo (Steve Le Marquand), and experience a sense of Déjà vu with weird events, feeling that they had previously been in that place. That Saturday, they start to realize that they are actually trapped in a nightmare.

an eerie mystery that channels the shoreline setting and creeping dread of classic nature's revenge Ozploitationer Long Weekend (1978), and something of the hallucinatory disorientation of outback enigma Picnic at Hanging at Rock (1975).

I don't really get it. But as far as I can say the idea is very interesting. The acting is a little bit strange as is the movie.

It's really weird and eerie, but it's worth the watch. Mind puzzling.

some really great ideas. managed to stay creepy throughout the film. but felt a bit bored, and the ending was pretty crap.

This quite good Aussie fright flick manages to make the beach in broad daylight seem like a scary place. PS For interesting theological reflections on the horror genre see Bryan Stone, "The Sanctification of Fear: Images of the Religious in Horror Films," Journal of Religion and Film Vol. 5, No. 2 October 2001 and Brian Godawa's "A Theology of Horror Movies."
