Lost in France (2017)

A new documentary explores the rise of Scotland's independent music scene in the '90s, led by cult label Chemikal Underground. On the journey, we revisit a defining, chaotic trip early in the musicians' careers, re-staging a concert in Brittany that connects the characters in life (and on stage) for the first time in many years.

The musicians are talented, thoughtful and charming, and their story says plenty about the decline of the music industry. But it feels like we're getting the comedown without having had the high.

Lost in France is both a touching oral history of beloved indie record label Chemikal Underground and a thought-provoking look at how the performance and production of independent music has radically shifted over the past two decades.
