Lost Embrace (2004)

In Buenos Aires, the twenty-something Jewish-Argentinean Ariel Makaroff ditches the University of Architecture and spends his time wandering through the downtown gallery where his mother has a lingerie shop and his brother runs an importation business. Ariel has never understood why his father left him when he was a baby, but when his dad returns to Argentina, that will soon change.

interesting concept mostly well executed. the modest, focused setting provides more of a play dynamic than a movie and conveys a claustrophobic vibe that reinforces one of its central themes. and there are great supporting roles across the board --- especially Sonja. but it was hard for me to like the lead character, and that drags the whole thing down a bit. love the Ramon vs El Peruano scene. that's inspired storytelling.

Despite an absurdly melodramatic premise, Lost Embrace is an essentially plotless series of riffs and jokes. It's 20 minutes too long--forgivable in view of Burman's affection for his material.

Me encanta el director Daniel Burman, creo que logra crear un clima muy intimista y muy argentino en sus peliculas. Esta peli es muy dulce y graciosa a la vez, excelente Adriana Aizemberg como una gran idishe mame.
