The narrative structure is built around two interweaving story-lines; one depicting the "present", the daily lives of the pirates and their community, and the second in the "past", revealing through epic animation, the unfolding of a recent hijacking.

Mixing animation and documentary in evocative ways, Last Hijack is an illuminating look at the thrill and the toll of Somali piracy.

Last Hijack is good on context and nicely presented. Sadly, it fails to convert Nura's biography into a coherent narrative and contains nothing that might be mistaken for a denouement.

The story of Mohamed, who leaves behind his normal life for the money and excitement of piracy, is illuminating, even if he is never a terribly sympathetic character that the viewer can warm up to.

The filmmakers have gotten extraordinary access to Mohamed and ravaged Somalia... But it's disappointing that they did not capture more scenes of Mohamed's wife and her family, who in the end are the ones who make the most momentous decision.
