Bresson's minimalist approach makes for sometimes tough viewing but stripping back the motivations etc makes for interesting new perspectives.

Bresson, working his sound track as assiduously as his visuals, once again makes us realize how little use most films make of the resources of the cinema. A masterpiece.

Bresson's "essentialist" style is not for everyone but if you find yourself in tune with it, L'argent is the kind of pure, perfect experience that could change your life for the better.

Robert Bresson's final film is a harrowing scour of ideological cinema, based on a sermonic Tolstoy story about greed but turned by Bresson into a pantomime stations of the cross, so completely focused on sensuous minutiae, moral interrogation, and the fastidious lasering away of movie bullshit (like acting and action) that it comes as close as any movie has to 15th-century Christian icons

Even axe-murders are stripped down to their bones in Bresson's films. Tremendous later work, skilfully made, and with one of the most outrageous last shots in all of cinema.
