Lady Oscar (1979)

Oscar François de Jarjayes was born female, but her father insisted she be raised as a boy as he had no sons. She becomes the captain of the guards at Versailles under King Louis XVI and Marie Antonette. Her privileged, noble life comes under fire as she discovers the hard life of the poor people of France. She is caught up in the French Revolution, and must choose between her loyalty and love.

Kind of kitsh let's face it, this adaptation from a manga and Japanese production directed by Jacques Demy still remains pretty interresting on a cinematography point of view...

Compare to the original manga, this live action is totally terrible = = Oscar is described as a heroic who lead French citizens to defeat Bastile prison in 14th July 1789. But in the movie, they cut it!!!!!!!!! It destroyed all history meaning of this story and the plots in manga were divided into some seperated pieces which were very boring to watch. Moreover, the main character, Oscar, was out of character from manga. I dont see anything of Oscar in the actress and the way movie described her =="" Truly disappointed about this adaption and I recommend you to watch anime version in 1979, it is much more better than this one. Dont waste time on it and be upset about what you watched!
