When looking at a planet in crisis, directors Joshua and Rebecca Tickell leave a positively refreshing outlook for the future in Kiss the Ground’s groundbreakingly simple proposition to save our planet. Throughout the optimistic vision that Tickell has created, there is never a voice of doubt in any of the diverse voices included in the film. Whether it comes from the strong voice of agricultural experts to the calming presence of celebrity activists, such as Jason Mraz and Patricia Arquette, the film eases audiences into the effective objective of a regenerative planet. Using this bright variety of stars in the film, in tandem with the beautifully magnificent shots of each location, creates a sight to behold for any viewer. From the plains of Africa to the ecologically rich regions of China, the cinematography pulls audiences into learning more about the Kiss the Ground movement. After watching Kiss the Ground, directed by Josh and Rebecca Tickell, and truly understanding a legitimate way that our planet could heal from climate change, I find myself feeling exceedingly hopeful. I know what you may be thinking – a climate change documentary can leave you feeling hopeful? I assure you, this one will. Regenerative agriculture seems like such a dependable and unproblematic way to drastically decrease carbon levels in the atmosphere, the more I heard it discussed in the film the more I wanted to shout the same message from the rooftops to anyone who would listen. Filled to the brim with experts, scientists, activists, and personal stories from farmers and ranchers, the film is easy to follow and engaging through the very end. It takes you around the world, incorporating beautiful nature shots and addressing the topics from countless different perspectives, but it also shows you what you can do to actually make a difference right here at home.

Kiss the Ground opened my eyes to a new perspective on climate change that is both uplifting and remarkably powerful. Films surrounding the future of our planet can be daunting. Yet, Kiss the Ground offers a viable solution that is directly beneath our feet. The answer is the soil. By transferring the CO2 emissions back down into living plants, we can regenerate our soil. Hence, healing our lands and maintaining it for years to come. The dedication that went into this film is undeniable. Through each visual and transition, the passion for the future of regenerative agriculture is compelling. It showed influential individuals at the frontline of such an important topic in our world today and real-life farmers that adopted regenerative agriculture, and their positive results. Kiss the Ground’s message is important now, more than ever, and I cannot wait to see the difference this film will continue to make.

This documentary gives a voice to soil regeneration in the best way possible, at the best time possible. It is now hard to argue the best chance of combating climate change is through reducing atmospheric carbon, rather than cutting emissions. Seeing scientific experts, everyday farmers, and famous actors all come to this unilateral consensus was refreshing. Additionally, the stimulating narrative was elevated by masterful cinematography and Woody Harrelson’s charismatic narration. By the end of this film, I found myself more hopeful for the future of humanity’s climate than ever before.
