Ben Barnes and Robert Sheehan are excellent, with light comedic moments making up for where the plots lagged

The McCormick brothers have it all planned out with their budding rock band, sell out tours, million selling albums & hot sex with any woman they want. Unfortunately their friends band have the same dream & those friends turn out to be Paul Hewson & David Evans better known as Bono & The Edge. U2 go on to be one of the biggest bands of the 80's while Neil & Ivan McCormick struggle to tie up a record deal & launch their music career. This has a feel more of a drama series you'd find on E4 every Thursday night rather than a film. Thankfully that doesn't stop this film being very funny, not laugh out loud funny, and thoroughly entertaining.

A movie about two paths a schoolband can possibly experience. The 'U2' one and the other, unsucessful one. Don't expect many U2 scenes, in fact there are none (except one or two with Bono). However, the connection is significant and any pop-rock music fan should enjoy the movie. Not many backstage scenes too (stage constructions, backline, etc.) and...not much profound plot - expect regular band-in-the-garage and band-on-the-tour scenes, including a girl/manager/ego problem

Director Nick Hamm's movie is sparky and fun, and full of affectionate pokes at the '80s music scene. It's also, in terms of music biopics, probably better than the real thing.
