Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten (2007)

As the front man of the Clash from 1977 onwards, Joe Strummer changed people's lives forever. Four years after his death, his influence reaches out around the world, more strongly now than ever before. In "The Future Is Unwritten", from British film director Julien Temple, Joe Strummer is revealed not just as a legend or musician, but as a true communicator of our times. Drawing on both a shared punk history and the close personal friendship which developed over the last years of Joe's life, Julien Temple's film is a celebration of Joe Strummer - before, during and after the Clash.

I mean I know he wasn't perfect but what an amazing guy he was. This is so emotional and deeply touching...

Moving, insightful Biog of one of the greatest musicians ever and also my personal hero. A must for fans of The Clash, Punk Rock or just good music in general.

I suppose you would have to be a fan to truly appreciate but it reminded just how big and influential The Clash were in the late '70s, early '80s. I knew practically nothing of Joe Strummer's life so it also was a wealth of information and totally changed my view of albums like "London Calling" and "Sandinista". Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go check out a bunch of Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros' albums and "Rude Boy" that I've owed on DVD for several years but never watched.

I always regretted I am too young to see the Clash in a gig. This movie is like a trip in the past, a good way for the new generation to see what they missed. Often funny, always touching. A very, very good movie about a man who loved life, music and people.

Fanatsic. Shows a really good picture of the man. Jullian Temple puts out yet another great documentry. One that you could watch again and again and every time you have a tear in your eye at the end. Joe Strummeris a guy that you want to aspire to be.
