The director conveys the period beautifully. The actors all do a fine job. The script manages to give us a person, not a genius, and so avoids the trouble with most artist bios.

Jimi's memory deserves a much better movie. one waits and waits for The Experience to burst forth, but it never happens. If the artist's life were as boring as this movie, he would be unknown.
