The film means well I suppose, Juliette Binoche is always good to watch, but the film is tiresome and lacks depth. Yet another of the countless "poor me I am black and was supressed movies". The film thinks it is much more important than it is.

This is not a movie who will win Oscars for Juliette Binoche or Samuel Jackson. But it has the merit to let us know what really happened in South Africa when Apartheid was abolished. I discovered UBUNTU and it gave me a new perspective on forgivness.

A stirring, large-souled movie about an event that was both an exposure of horror and a celebration of forgiveness.

The script...intelligently explores...the profound need to make sense out of madness and to find emotional peace in its aftermath...Sustains a deep and moving involvement.

In My Country stands closest to "Hotel Rwanda," a similarly clumsy yet inescapably moving effort to confront the brutal consequences of colonial oppression.
