The story related to the problem created since the "one child policy" of China and the problem of high divorce rate. The story is a bit straight forward but it delivered some messages.

When their daughter is diagnoses with a disease, a divorced couple discovers only a blood sibling can save the girl. Problem is, both parties are remarried, and it threatens to tear both families apart. Despite the strong acting and good narrative, I noticed that it is a good character study. There is no black and white, only shades of gray, No one is the real badguy, just a situation that people do not agree on. The movie does seem to drag on for a bit, it doesn't reveal the main plot point until about thirty minutes into the film. It also never actually completes the main plot line, only the conflict leading up to it. Despite a few nitpicks, a strong drama about moral implications and family dynamics.

Here is a powerful thought provoking movie from China that validates my belief of becoming registered donors. But on the other spectrum, It's the emotional heartache none of us can fully grasp if you are on the recipient's end. This is a must-see film that will surprise you.
