How refreshing to see a movie that is about story and character and not blood and gore.

I love the book, but the movie has a chilling life all its own. The material was handled tastefully by director Richard Brooks, just as it was by Capote.

The book has the reputation of being a real ground breaker and here it has a film to match. Predating Dead Man Walking by 28 years this paints a no thrills portrait murder, including the state sanctioned kind.

One of the best films of the sixties. It makes true film noir out of Capote's novel. And it also introduces us to Scott Wilson, the greatest American character actor alive.
