It's a downbeat, low-key peek into the thankless task of climbing the greasy entertainment pole and you're rewarded - not with laughs - but a grim insight into quite how unfunny the comedy world can be.

Undoubtedly heartfelt, but sadly misfiring attempt to trace a new actâ(TM)s journey round the comedy circuit. Although thereâ(TM)s a lot of talent involved, nothing quite gels â" performances, script, pacing - leaving you with little to care about. Itâ(TM)s not funny enough to work as a comedy, not truthful or moving enough to involve you as a drama. Oh, and the promise of cameos by a wealth of British comedy talent is wildly misleading, as the star names only appear as high-profile extras in a party scene. I donâ(TM)t want to be mean, because I donâ(TM)t think this was a cynical undertaking, but ultimately itâ(TM)s just not good.
