Instead of taking the more entertaining route of having the island filled with giant spiders, this film has a giant spider who turns its victim into a half-man half-spider. The rest of the movie revolves around women fighting over men and a really bizarre hunt for the spider-man. Best to avoid.

The usual low-budget stuff, although this one is at least atmospheric and has some nice cinematography.

For a brilliant analysis of this film, I refer you to Ado Kyrou's "Surrealism and Cinema". All I will say here is that this movie is wonderful and has fashion models and spider monsters and that I was delighted to finally see the uncut German language version.

"Look, we're evolving!" "The woman is a cold-blooded creature who must lie out in the sun..." I'm rating the MST3K version of it, which was hilarious. Thank you, robots!

This was considered a German sex film in 1960. Don't miss it! Personally, if I'm on that island, all the girls would be pregnant.
