Self-absorbed Dr. Lee Johnson enlists with the Army medical corps during World War II, more out of a feeling that it's "the thing to do" rather than deep-seated patriotism. On his first day, he's put into place by 'Snapshot', a sassy and attractive nurse. Their initial antagonism blossoms into romance. Lee then finds himself torn with guilt over being unfaithful to his wife, Penny, who's waiting for him back home.

Thoroughly enjoyable movie, very moving and contains some very stirring moments, some which left a few tears on my face. Sadly, it's almost a look into what Clark Gable really suffered as he lost his beloved wife, Carole Lombard, in a plane wreck as she helped in the war effort and how after Gable returned from his own war duty he was a changed man. Terrific performances by Gable and Lana Turner. Turner's performance in this movie should be considered one of her best.
