If anything, it could be argued Hicks has too much strong material at his disposal here.

David 'Mad Dog' Bradley 13 Jul 2016

When they have to return the Guadagninis, it's like they're surrendering a loved child, and the extreme emotion is either heart-rending (if you're a devotee of classical music and high culture) or perhaps ever-so-subtly funny.

Craig Mathieson 22 May 2016

The film is rarely staid and it is ego, whether endowed by the instruments or not, that often shines through in the overly busy structure that leaps from one tangent to the next.

Fascinating, surprisingly absorbing documentary about the formation of the new Australian String Quartet...But what starts out as a straightforward doco morphs into Spinal Tap With Strings when personality differences threaten to break up the band.

Music lovers will find plenty to enjoy in this intriguing film.
