Chronicling her parents' experiences over their first year of having sound in their lives, Brodsky tells a deeply personal tale that moved viewers to bestow it with the Documentary Audience Award at Sundance 2007.

Sentimental, emotional, raw, insightful, and deeply personal. I thank them for sharing their experiences, sometimes very raw and too tender, to the rest of us so that we can better understand what it is like to be in their world before and after cochlear implantation.

Wonderful story of two amazing people who at 65 years of age are able to hear via cochlear implants. Just as amazing as their expierience is their devotion to one another during the experience.

Amazing doco - the filmmaker follows her 65-year-old deaf parents as they get cochlear implants and hear for the first time. The dad has a hilarious take on things (geese are the worst sound ever apparently), but it's also obviously really hard for them. The whole cinema was in floods of tears the whole time. It's on again on Tuesday at 4:30, go if you can make it! (Part of the film fest).

this is a touching and inspirational movie. I watched it with my hubby and i would never take everything I have for granted again. David Taylor (filmmaker's dad) is a wise guy who invented TTY. Feeling honor to get to know him (via the movie). I think he is an angel who has saved a lot of ppl's lives who have/had hearing impaired. Excellent job, Irene!
