Haze (2005)

A man awakes to find himself trapped in a dirty, confined crawlspace. He barely has enough room to move. He also has no memory of why he's there, or why he's bleeding from a stomach wound. Apparently drugged, he occasionally 'zones out' of his surroundings as he tries to edge towards his way to freedom. But the more he explores, the more pain he has to endure, and the more frightening his predicament becomes.

Short, and certainly not for everyone, but it's also a very claustrophobic and unnerving film. Shinya's never going to stop trying new things in his movies, and that's wonderful.

This is an amazing movie. It's strange, frightening .. a low budget made by a master director.

very reminiscent of the movie cube, only there's NO room to move around. the atmosphere is oppressive and there is very little light. this makes it hard to see sometimes but it really adds to the overall claustrophobia and fear that the character feels. has some silent hill-esque moments. not a bad flick

Superb exercise in terror and claustrophobia. Movies like this have existed in the Asian market for years. Recently many regional elements have been trundled and and pirated by the Americans filmmakers like the Saw team, who have diluted extreme cinema and spooned it like broth into the minds of unsuspecting Juggalos softened by cheesy 80s schlock and ironic 90s slasher flicks. The focus on atmosphere over inventiveness is especially refreshing.
