Based on the excellent book of the same name, this documentary does a magnificent job of showing how US policy and involvement has harmed Latin American countries and created circumstances that led to migration. González believes "Americans won't tolerate injustice once they have the proper information" and contributes this informative documentary in hopes that he will be proven right.

This is a great movie!! It not only shows where Latin Immigrants have come from, why they left their countries and their impact on this country. A must watch for anyone connected to Latinos.

I like how comprehensively it covers America's involvement throughout the hemisphere. That stuff is all really interesting and important history. But the idea that educating Americans on why people are illegally coming to America, showing them that its the result of America's wrongdoing, will convince any of these stubborn, shortsighted racists is just crazy. I'm reasonably sure that almost everyone who sees this either already agrees with what it's trying to sell, or will never agree but may still enjoy the history lesson.

As an analysis of the causes of migration, it is one-dimensional and unconvincing. But as a social history of Latinos in America, it is provocative and fascinating. And as an indictment of decades of economic injustice and covert military action committed in the name of freedom, it is devastating.
