In the shadowy world of drone warfare, combat unfolds like a video game–only with real lives at stake. After six tours of duty, Air Force pilot Tom Egan now fights the Taliban from an air-conditioned bunker in the Nevada desert. A thought provoking war movie with tempestuous performance by Ethan Hawke.

Lots of philosophy in this one. Are we the good guys or the bad guys, and everything in between. But then you throw in the usual, pointless emotional context of it all by adding a crazy emotional chick, and it blurs the movie between being purposeful, vs being just another emo drama with a cool plot.

8/8/15 Amazon Instant Video A very good film about war, family, our current drone policy and the philosophy of prosecuting that war. What a disconnect between killing in the sterile environment of a trailer and then trying to maintain a healthy home life. Lots of conflicts to absorb in this movie and strong performance from Ethan Hawke. Really liked this one.

"Good Kill" reunites director Andrew Niccol with Ethan Hawke. Previously, they worked together in a terrific sci-fi film, "Gattaca". "Gattaca" was terrific because the film brought up many social issues in addition to being extremely entertaining. "Good Kill" is very similar in that it brings up many important issues and is also exceptionally well made and entertaining. It's so good, I cannot wait for these two to work together in the future.I have absolutely no idea how true to life Good Kill is , as i know nothing about the Drone programme in the US but if it is remotely ( no pun intended) like what actually happens then i'm totally gobsmacked . I found this disturbing. Do the American's really recruit people , some for their expertise on the X-Box , to blow up Afghanistan citizens on a probability factor that they may or may not be Taliban ? I Bloody hope not. Ethan Hawke is superb as the troubled Drone Pilot as is the gorgeous January Jones who plays his wife . I think this one is going to stay with me for some time.
