Gigola (2010)

George, a charismatic and adventurous young woman, born from an old, catholic family, falls in love, in her teens, with a female teacher named Sybil. Devastated by her lover's eventual suicide, some years later, George embarks on an exciting and reckless journey to the depths of Pigalle's nightlife, circa 1960. After an encounter with a very wealthy, still attractive, but older woman, Odete, who offers her money and gifts in return for sexual favours, George becomes Gigola, a kind of gigolo for women only.

campy, and there were quite a few question marks throughout the movie, but kinda enjoyed this entertaining and different set-in-the-60s parisian underground *ahem* scene. ( ok, bet a lotta people will hate that part nearing the end ) one thing's for sure, Gigola's the most dapper dyke ever, her wardrobe rocked.

The first thought came into my mind is this is not like those French films I watch normally, it somehow giving me the feel of American independent films. Lou Doillon has a special look which really brings the character of Georgia alive, who buried her sadness of losing the love of her life under the glamorous night life, yet she is brave and liberal. The setting and the costume is nice with the camera move. It also with a sense of humour, I just wish the cadence would slow down a bit as the twist in the late part come in quite a sudden point.
