While Yudin gives us plenty of room to laugh at them, he also acknowledges their capacity to inspire awe - not only at their bulging muscles, but at their willingness to go all the way with the infantile wish to look bigger than anyone else.

In the spirit of the classic "Pumping Iron" which focused on the 1975 IFBB Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia competitions and the epic showdown between Lou Ferrigno and Arnold Schwarzenegger, "Generation Iron" is the film for this generation of bodybuilders. Despite covering the lives of several IFBB Pros, Branch Warren, Roelly Winklaar, Dennis Wolf, Victor Martinez and Ben Pakulski, this film really focuses on the rivalry between Kai Green and the seemingly unstoppable Phil Heath during the 2012 Mr. Olympia. Already knowing the outcome of the competition already (Phil Heath is now 4 time Champ) did not make this film any less intense. The daily struggle to maintain your macros and training and even life struggles makes this film worth every second.

Very informative movie. Follows the top 2 Olympia athletes from 2012 and gives you a very small glimpse into the emotions and sweat behind these athlete. You have to have an active interest in the sport of bodybuilding to enjoy this movie, otherwise you will be one of the people giving this a negative review. Not understanding the sport doesn't entitle you to speak negatively on it
