As time tells (remember The Girl?), decidedly lesbian features, unless they have something more enlightening to show or tell, should stick the pornography market.

By the time Lenni's and Stella's story has played out, the writers must have laid down their pens with a sigh. Even the subtitle guy was probably relieved.

Benzina has a hip look to it. The film is set in a particularly bleak urban landscape and has plenty of noir elements and edge, visually speaking, but the story is ridiculous.

Dennis Lim 30 Jun 2003

Devoid of originality, Gasoline is at least a model of modesty -- a road movie that goes nowhere slowly, and ends up where it began.

G. Allen Johnson 23 Oct 2003

Stambrini's dialogue seems especially dull, and the screenplay lacks dramatic urgency.
