a British comedy which tells the tale of how two British men landed on the moon in 1899

I remember watching this with my dad a few years back, it was channel 4 HD last week, couldn't resist. Very dated yes, still has its zany appeal that I remember from when I fist watched it. I like the whole plot of twist of when astronauts first land on the moon and discover some evidence that they are not the first and in fact somebody has been there some 60 years before they had in 1899, after that it does become a tad silly however but that aside an enjoyable watch

A painfully slow movie, The First Men in the Moon is about half build up and then some decent hijinks on the moon. Harryhausen's giant moon slug has only one scene, and that's it. Not worth the price of admission, even for hardcore Harryhausen fans.

This sci fi classic, is old but did have great visuals and special effects for its time. Yes there is alot of cheesy moments, Yes kids in bug customs, Yes alot of boring scenes and scenes that just dragged on and seemed like they really didn't need to be in the film. There is alot of humor in the movie, sometimes too much of it, It starts out serious and has alot of serious moments but also alot of the movie has humorous moments almost like a comedy. Today it would be considered a sci-fi comedy. I think that if all the boring scenes were edited out of the movie then it would have been a more enjoyable experience. But overall It was enjoyable, and alot of fun.

a classic that does change most aspects of the source material, and some scientific innacurasies that even when the movie was made are totally unforgivable, but it is a delightful movie I would highly recommend
