The demands from Kubrick were "Kafkaesque" recalls Vitali's son, Max, but technically rough as it is, Zierra's film not only captures his subject's calling to serve, it illuminates Kubrick as well.

Glenn Whipp 16 May 2018

As a portrait of a man who surrendered his career and much of his life to the service of a master, Filmworker proves compelling, particularly for those with a passing interest in Kubrick.

Gwilym Mumford 24 May 2017

What shines through most here is the pure sense of pride felt by Vitali, in the trust Kubrick placed in him, and in his part in creating some of the last century’s most monumental pieces of cinema.

Rich Cline 14 May 2018

A beautiful profile of someone who makes movies for the sheer love of it. And he shouldn't remain anonymous.

Rob Aldam 08 Nov 2018

Tony Zierra's documentary is a fascinating insight into the work which goes on behind the scenes.
