Fight Church (2014)

A documentary about the confluence of Christianity and mixed martial arts, including ministries which train fighters. The film follows several pastors and popular fighters in their quest to reconcile their faith with a sport that many consider violent and barbaric. Faith is tried and questions are raised. A surprisingly nuanced and intriguing study of two worlds that would seem to be entirely incompatible.

Dan Schindel 14 Sep 2014

Fight Church is an interesting look at Christianity and masculinity in America today and how the two intersect.

Andy Crump 24 Sep 2014

The results never feel over-stuffed or undercooked; there's a balance here, and the film never tips too far one way or the other to upset its equilibrium.

Kevin Jagernauth 14 Sep 2014

Storkel and Junge largely get it right, taking the viewer into a truly unique, and not oft-documented place, remaining observant of their subjects, but never critical.

Bill Gibron 18 Sep 2014

... the faces behind the faith-based fisticuffs are as engaging as they are entertaining.
