Here's a hint: if you have only two selling points to your film, make the most of them. Here we have 1: the title. It's "Faust" - make the most of the demonic pact, the hubris and the fall. And 2: Jeffrey Combs: the only recogniseable (and half-decent) actor in the film; don't show him for most of the runtime only to have him bail in the final act. Instead what we get is some mindless crap about a runner-up in a Bruce Campbell lookalike contest gurning his way through a half-arsed plot involving demons dressed like Adam West's Batman, repressed sexual-molestation memories and cheap gore.

So this movie contains incredible moments and some painfully tasteless ones as well. It is odd to find anything tasteless when I am such a huge fan of things like SOCIETY, but when you play with sex-mixed with pain and rape too much, you lose me. Too often do we see these things blatantly thrown into the story in a 2-d pornographic sort of way--unlike Society which rides on the absurdism and commentary on "society" itself. This film fails largely because it follows a terrible 90s indie teen comic. The things it does for itself are just fantastic--Combs being the best part. Once again, Jeffrey Combs blows everyone else out of the water and makes you wish he was the star. There are also several golden moments thrown about the film. Not great, but has amazing B moments.

Though the comic came out before Spawn, this movie is basically a crazier version of the Spawn in 1997. This is far more entertaining, though, with far more blood and better effects. Though, the acting is far, FAR worse.
