Fathers and Sons (2005)

Intertwined tales of three families who grow up on the same street, focusing on the relationship of fathers and sons. The first section features Anthony and Jenny and traces the father-son bond that develops between Anthony and his newborn son over 30 years. The second story centers on the affairs of an airline pilot who shares a house but not a life with his wife. He crosses paths with an unusual woman and spends an extraordinary night with his son. The final chapter follows the homecoming of Elliot to his estranged family. As his father dies, Elliot meets and falls in love with a woman who sees past his tough-guy exterior.

Just saw this movie and was impressed by the theme of fathers and sons in one neighborhood.

This couldn't escape its TV trappings, there wasn't enough to the relationships of the fathers and sons (do they all have to be troubled relationships?) and the trilogy of stories did not flow or really warrant the relation between them. I mainly watched this for Rodrigo Garcia's involvement, and while his segment was the best, it didn't come close to his previous work.

Not bad, it has three stories, of fathers and sons, from families who live on the same street. Good premise, it's not a feel good movie. Well acted, all three episodes are equally good. They tie in together well.

This will be a required watch for my future husband. :) In fact, I think all of Garcia's work should be taught at school (or at least college).
