sublime imagery is accompanied by an unreal narration of a fantastic myth. Somewhat of a travel documentary, and experimental art film at once.

For the most part Fata Morgana (German for Mirage) is just shots of the Sahara accompanied by narration, this is essentially the first part (titled Creation) in a nutshell. The following two (Paradise and Golden Age) we start to see deeper breathes of civilization making the film slowly become to resemble a documentary. Fata opens with countless shots of a plane landing which we must see at least 10-15 times, from there you know what you're going to get. The film is unconventional through and through but looks undeniably stunning. The music is fantastic as well.

It's a bit like Koyaanisqatsi or Baraka, but far more ascetic, and personal. Surrealistic experiment which requires an open mind.

What a strange little film, and yet I cannot stop watching it. It has a certain alien beauty that is subtle and striking.

As part of Herzorgs experimental artistic works it's a visual treat. For anybody not interested in suh things it's a bore. The film has endless tracking shots of desolate landscapes accompanied by a bizarre voice over detailing a fantasy world. Some men discuss animals and so forth. Some of the images are very striking and the overall feel is that of a dream, weird pieces strung together and open to interpretation. Alternatively you can brush it off as just darn weird.
