Talking heads, anchored by critic and scholar B. Ruby Rich, are interspersed with an advancing timeline and with clips from two dozen films. A great documentary with some fantastic interviews and really engaging stories about the history of Queer Cinema. Perfect for a primer, perfect for an enthusiast.

Obviously, this can't be as good as "The Celluloid Closet," but it's still entertaining.

The documentary The Celluloid Closet, which is also about the history of queer cinema, does it better than this one, however, this is still a good documentary by itself. And I am glad that I am familiar with most of the movies mentioned. The topic is interesting, and I really like and agree with what all of the interviewees are saying but I think this should have included or mentioned more foreign queer films.

It was such a quick overview I can't even believe it. It barely talked about anything for more than a minute and when it did it was the least interesting films. Give me more Kenneth Anger and Gus Van Sant next time. No My Own Private Idaho are you serious?! No Scorpio Rising?! Screw this. Decent for what it is, I suppose.

A very thorough history lesson on queer cinema, covering just about every movie and featuring many queer actors, directors, and other talents in interviews. Comes off as a tad pretentious at times, but you'll come out (heh heh) of it very well-educated.
