Bloody hilarious! another one of my growing up films! must have seen this 100 times at least! never get bored of it!

You really can't appreciate how much this isn't a spoof until you watch it in tandem with The Vikings with Kirk Douglas. Also, what should have been the funniest part (the end, with the Norse Gods, which I won't spoil for you) ended up being rather disappointing, and the funniest part (the sinking island) was just reminiscent enough of Python to leave me wishing I was watching an actual Python movie.

Classic comendy, great cast including Tim Robbins and most of the Monty Python crew and its finally out on DVD!.... 'Puke, puke, puke'... 'You bastard!'... check it out!

It seems that Erik, razing and pillaging, has gained his fair share of haters; sure, the retro editing feels woody like a hull, but the movie retains also some surrealism from the times of Monty Python, and enough swashbuckling from The Vikings, Jason and the Argonauts and Capt. Blood to survive high seas.
