Dragon Inn (1967)

China, year 1457. The Minister of Defense is executed, and his children are sentenced to exile by order of the tyrannical Tsao. Fearful of future revenge from the young people, Tsao sends cruel soldiers to murder them, but a brave group of swordsmen can change the course of the battle at the Dragon Inn.

From the open desertic landscapes, to the closed, claustrophobic space of the inn, with a Spaghetti Western heart beating, a full Tsui Hark approach toward the classic of King Hu and its themes: freedom of thought (and action) strangled by injustice at political and existential level. Virtuoso.

an asian classic that pits two sides in a fierce battle of wits and early wirefu. there is action, comedy, story and deep characters!! maggie cheung is so cute lol, leung ka fai is a "pussy", and the ending is pure gold! (; i'm glad i bought it!
