There's enough quirky charm, light-hearted humor and fresh ideas to appeal to both younger children, eager to grow up, and to older viewers looking back on the dawn of their own awkward adolescence.

The plot and design is extremely pathetic into trying to fit as a theatrical release, as the movie decided to take a easy path by using the storyline of E.T. Extra Terrestrial and just only slightly change the screen quality as in the television show. South Park, another animated movie based on a TV series, did a much better job than Doug's First Movie.
