Soichi Negishi moved to Tokyo to chase his dream of becoming a musician playing stylish, Swedish-style pop. Instead, he finds himself leading the death metal band Detroit Metal City, or DMC, as the costumed and grotesquely made-up "demon emperor" Johannes Krauser II. Although he hates the role and the things he has to do as a member of the band, he has a definite talent for it.

Very funny Japanese comedy about a death metal band. Definately a reccomended watch.

Haha, well wow! What can I say? Death Metal? Japan? Gene Simmons? An original story? You bet your white ass! This movie has it all to make you rock out with your cock out in front of this craaazy-ass movie with a story like none other, and you're in for a fun ride, as this movie is purposefully cheesy at times, but compensates with the whole picture and the goodness of the music! And it was all the more funny! Good to watch anytime!

not bad but it's not as funny as the book !! bcus the movie cut many thing from the book! the story of the girl fans go to hotel, rape the tokyo tower, i wanna c Mr.M !!

bloody hilarious movie. admittedly, the music isn't really death metal, and things are a little overdone, but it's a riot...

The story is a bit nonsense as things in the film and the views of the characters are ridiculously changed very quickly and easily, but the film is still totally enjoyable as Matsuyama again played a great role(s) in the film as always. And there's a great plus to the film to have such a cute actress like Rosa Kato.
