Darby's Rangers (1958)

Stationed in Scotland, Maj. William Darby and the men under his command are trained by British commandos, becoming the U.S. Army's 1st Ranger Battalion. Their drilling period is rigorous, but the men find time to romance local women before being deployed to fight the Nazis. U.S. forces battle from French North Africa to Italy, but when a surprise attack decimates the 1st and 3rd Battalions at the Battle of Cisterna, Darby and the 4th Battalion must come to their aid.

What should be a war movie broken up by brief romantic interludes; is a movie whose romantic scenes are broken up by combat scenes. When it is a war movie it isn't bad. But the romance is in full 1950's style. Methodical and boring. There are much better WW2 movies that were made during this time period.

started off well with good humour in the training. but it side steps away from the war a little bit

Never have I seen a military drama so done in by sex. It's not enough to say that romance is a recurring distraction in this film; it would be more accurate to describe the battle scenes as interrupting all the mush.

well umn just seen this movie 4 the 1st time n think that this is a good movie 2 watch....its got a good cast of actors/actressess throughout this movie....i think that james garner, etchika choureau, jack warden play good roles/parts throughout this movie....i think that the director of this action/adventure/drama/classics movie had done a good job of directing this movie because you never know what 2 expect throughout this movie....i think that this is a good war movie 2 watch its a good war movie 2 watch

A war film that although dated in many of it's attitudes, still makes you grin all over chops. Maybe a few too many unnecessary story strands, but there's plenty of action and male-bonding to make up for that - an ideal Sunday afternoon movie!
