Dancing in Jaffa (2013)

Pierre Dulaine, an internationally renowned ballroom dancer, is starting to fulfill his life long dream - to take his program Dancing Classrooms to Jaffa, where he was born. Watching the children move from the state they started in to the one with which the film ends is the centre of the film. There's surprise along the way for all, as well as some humour.

"Dancing in Jaffa" is a charming, often moving documentary about how dance can work magic in breaking down barriers.

Ellen Dunkel 01 May 2014

We barely get to know the children or see much of their dancing. By the time the winner of the competition is announced, it is not much of a surprise, and there is little emotional payout.

Geoffrey Macnab 12 Feb 2015

An uplifting and gently comic documentary.

When there is as little hope as there currently is for peace in the Middle East, one looks to the future and does what they can. Here a dance competition aims to cultivate some hope for the future. Time will tell. CDW
