Deaodato, director of that cinematic illness Cannibal Holocaust, creates an uneven jungle thriller that, however, deliver the violence (at least, in the *uncut* version, now available on DVD.)

A surprisingly nasty little exploitation flick, I went into this expecting some shoot-em up type action, instead I got some brutal violence and a grim little story set in the jungle reminiscent of Apocalypse Now. Worth a look, but probably not for the faint of heart.

Thoroughly nasty plunge into the seedy world of international drug dealing. The centre of the film is a cut-price re-run of Apocalypse Now, with a death-loving renegade colonel lording it over a tribe of natives and committing atrocities against those in the drug trade. Deodato is a consummate action director - no one quite conjures up jungle-based unease like him; the media world is nearly as sordid here as in Cannibal Holocaust; and the gore-moments are really eye-poppingly gratuitous. All adds up to a really foul vision of human depravity, although the script is no carefully-plotted machine.

An ok jungle movie with a message. The message...the media is bad. drugs are bad. jungle is good. blah blah blah. Michael Berryman was good however. One scene was great though...the splitting scene. Extremely well done. Easily the money shot of this mediocre movie.

Preposterous action film about cannibalistic indians in south america who attack drug smugglers under the leadership of a Colonel Kurtz type with connections to the Jonestown massacre. Kind of interesting to play spot-the-star with a mostly B movie cast, but it's hardly worth it.
