Criminal Lovers (1999)

After a perverted impulse drives them to kill, Alice and her boyfriend, Luc, drag the body into the woods, only to find themselves hopelessly lost – much like the fairy-tale plight of Hansel and Gretel. Starving and with no hope of being found, they chance upon a dilapidated cottage where a hulking man takes them prisoner and proceeds to feed Luc's sexual appetite.

Hansel and Gretel retold for the S&M lot. A little disturbing but nevertheless quite entertaining. And a young Jeremie Renier!

This film touches a lot of topics, and needs time to be directed properly. A seemingly common motif of a criminal couple and a murder 'for the sake of it' but ... with a different twist to it. Or many different twists. For me sometimes too many. A very strong picture.
