Once again, I'm really glad I don't pay too much mind to the ratings on this site. This is a beautiful historically-based film shot in scenic King's landing, New Brunswick, Canada.

Maxwell and Kauffman merit praise for acknowledging historical complexity, but the film's moral and aesthetic limitations keep Copperhead from entering this realm.

Given Maxwell’s dry style and fixation on 19th-century vernacular, the result is less like a peering examination of the turbulent political environment than a reenactment of a Ken Burns documentary—or a museum tour.

I loved it for its balanced discussion of the War Between the States, and some of the acting was quite good. Unfortunately it suffered from a mediocre script, a low budget, and some very poor background artists.
