After weeks of traveling through Europe, the immature William finds himself in Copenhagen, the place of his father's birth. He befriends the youthful Effy, who works in William's hotel as part of an internship program, and they set off to find William's last living relative. Effy's mix of youthful exuberance and wisdom challenges William unlike any woman ever has. As the attraction builds, he must come to grips with destabilizing elements of his family's sordid past.

Really great movie. It could have been uncomfortable or inappropriate but it was skillfully in a way that did not make it offensive at all. In fact it was a goo ove story. Pure love and not inappropriate sexual stuff. I cried at the first kiss and the ending. I was hoping she would show up at the end and he would tell he he cant live without her and he would stay and they would marry. Maybe in a sequel if there is one, which I hope for. AfterI watched I looke up the cast and saw he actress playing effy is 20 years old. I got an instant crush. Ithink effy should have been 20 in the movie. I love love stories and this could have been so much more and still be in good taste

You don't want to like the main character. He's the stereotypical American asshole that only cares about himself and how others are serving him. This is his journey through Denmark, in hopes of discovering something deeper regarding his dead father's childhood. You don't want to like him, but he finds love - and, honestly, who doesn't love a sappy romance. What this film does very well is how it tests they viewer's open-mindedness with regards social constructs. Good storytelling pushing the limits of comfort. Not your average romance film.

Came across this one on Netflix. I could relate to quite a bit of the film, so it really spoke to me.

Hansen is the film's only redeemable quality; it's a shame that she is wasted on this pointless search.
