Corbucci once again reinforces his position as the most raw, in-your-face director of the Western genre. Using Jack Palance to portray a marijuana-addicted villain, Ennio Morricone to compose one of the greatest opening/ending theme songs in history, and the gatling gun, popularized by Corbucci in Django, to murder a large number of people all ride hand-in-hand to create a film about the noble benefits of violence when combined with a lack of honor.

I think that this is my favorite of all the non-Leone spaghetti Westerns. It has some cult craziness (Jack Palance who smokes pot, has a fake hand and a weird attachment to a pet bird), but it's clever, funny, boisterous and has an anti-capitalist political message that's not too subtle (vamos a matar, compañeros means "let's go kill, comrades"). In this film, at the end of the day, violent revolution is the only solution to the excesses of imperialist capitalist oppression.

An unbelievable soundtrack from Morricone. One of the most memorable screen villians in Jack Palance's 'John' and a bloody finale with Franco Nero and a Multiple barreled machine gun. Spaghetti Western gold.

Sergio Corbucci was like Sergio Leone's psycho mate. He made loads of films with Franco Nero, the Italian Clint Eastwood, and Jack Palance. This one is classic Corbucci. "A Professional Gun" is much better though.
